" Update to the above: hard links in build.properties to STD_LIB, STD8_LIB, MTASC_BIN and SWFMILL_BIN let ant complete in 23 seconds. "

What should these hardlinks be in build.properties?

I managed to get 2.0.1 to compile successfully following these instructions but couldn't get the latest working (now 2.2.4)

Thank you! exactly what I needed as a newbie to Unix, ant, swfmill, etc. this is just the kind of walk-through I was looking for. Thanks!

Thanks for putting these down!

It looks like the directory layout has changed a little since these directions were written. I downloaded the mtasc and swfmill from the links you provided, placed them in the directories, and ant chokes on line 65 of build.xml.

Editing the build.properties list to hard link to the binary files gets me a little further along. Now it chokes at line 68 -- I guess it can't find the classpath.

I don't really consider myself a developer, but I understand enough to annoy actual developers.

I installed Passenger 1.0.5 yesterday on a 10.5.2 that was already running the classic Apache, proxy_balancer, monit, mongrel_cluster stack.

It worked out of the box for me.

At first I had trouble, but it was my incomplete removal of the mongrel config remnants in my vhost (disabled the balancer but for got to remove the mod_rewrite stuff). So that's the trick to a good conversion--be sure to remove all pieces of the balancer/rewrite stuff in your vhosts.

You should check out flytunes. It lets you stream and cache internet radio to your iphone. It's also free & you don't have to jailbreak your phone to use it. They have around 100 stations now. I've been using it for a month or so & they've been increasing the # of available stations the entire time.

Welcome back, Joseph. We missed you.

As you are well aware, I've had my own bouts with misunderstanding and arrogance. As time passes, I like to think that these have become less frequent. Learning how to argue properly (and civilly) is imperative these days, but so few seem to understand that. I consider myself lucky that I know a handful of folks who can make reasoned arguments, but still manage to keep their heads when rebutted.

By the way, I love the design. It's rather similar to the design in my dreams when I was first re-jiggering my own site. White text on a dark background should be more common.

One way to avoid tangents is to pic a topic/motif/theme for your blog and adhere to it as closely as possible. I'd suggest a photo blog, but that implies effort.

I find myself in the same boat on occasion with regard to arrogance. My problem is that I assert myself too strongly and imply to others that their opinions don't matter. If you must be opinionated, <strike>state your answer in the form of a question so people </strike> fuck, I did it again. Perhaps you can state your answer in the form of a question, so your readers feel they're providing constructive criticism as opposed to defensive commentary?

You're starting to make me wonder whether shitcanning my blog and starting over is worth the trouble. I have five years of history on that thing.
